covid-19 vaccines

As a result of the entire world collaborating to bring an end to the covid-19 pandemic, the scientific community has broken many records by producing a multitude of vaccines in a small amount of time. The Pfizer vaccine is already in use in the United States. It is first being used to vaccinate healthcare workers across the country. A second vaccine by Moderna is now just one vote away from being distributed.

Let us not forget this virus is brutal and has broken families. Millions have lost their lives to this virus. Getting this vaccine will protect you and protect those around you who cannot get the vaccine, like pregnant women, children, and people with severe allergies. It has been proven to be extremely useful and safe. Both the vaccines are estimated to be 95% effective against the virus and have passed the safety checks.

How the vaccine works: All vaccines require two doses to be the most effective. That means people must keep track of their vaccinations and come back several weeks after the first dose. After the second dose, it will take around a week for your body to build antibodies against the virus. To be more direct: this means the full process towards protection will take about six weeks. However, this does not mean you can neglect your mask after getting this vaccine.

You must still wear your mask!

"While the vaccine appears to offer strong protection to keep the vaccinated person from getting COVID, it is not clear if the person can still spread the virus to others."
