CHI (Chicago Help Initiative)

Join Chicago Help Initiative Feeding Hope

Jacqueline Hayes, community activist and founder of a local organization, The Chicago Help Initiative, is dedicated to providing meals and resources (health services, shelter, and employment) to Chicago residents that are homeless and or facing challenging situations.

In March 2001, Monsignor Baldwin offered the dining room at Catholic Charities -LaSalle Street- to serve a hot meal to 130 guests. The Magnificent Mile and River North area's restaurants and hotels provide a nourishing and flavorful meal with dessert. Before dinner, the guest has an opportunity to participate in skill-building classes, such as reading, math writing, GED, and many more to the homeless, disadvantage, and out-of-work individuals.

The Corona Virus (COVID19) pandemic has reduced the number of volunteers and donations of meals as those in need increased.

CHI is now in need of young people to prepare Brown bag meals that include a sandwich, fruit, chips, snacks, and water or juice for a nutritious and tasty meal.
